ERRAND BOY A run built from where you are standing: your miles, the ground you feel like, and any errands on the way.
  1. Pick a door — swipe the covers at the top. Each is a kind of outing: through town, out to the dirt, or on the cargo bike.
  2. Pick how far — tap a key, then tap the lit key again. Three ways appear on the map: tap one, then RUN.
  3. Run it to the end — the console, with every dial, opens after your first door is run to its finish.
  1. Origin — throw the striped switch by the box above. The phone says where you are. Or type an address or a place name first, then throw it.
  2. Dials — tap MILES and TERRAIN until they read what you want today.
  3. Compute — tap the dial. A build takes about half a minute a mile — keep the screen on. Three ways to run appear on the Ground. Tap one to light it up, tap again to take it.
On a laptop — no GPS here, so type where the run starts and throw the switch. Profiles, errands and saved routes stay on the device that made them; for a run, open this page on the phone. A training plan — Runna or any plan that writes to your calendar: TRAINING reads it, and the week becomes the plan. ERRANDS reads a pasted list — screenshots included. Scanned so far: Seattle, Bainbridge, Vashon, Edmonds, Kirkland · Cleveland · Tulln · Waiblingen · part of Tokyo. Anywhere else, the Ground offers a button to ask. This is an alpha: the page records the steps you take in it — which door, which distance, whether it built, how long it took, any error — so the next version is better. No location beyond what a run already keeps.
Compute
Dry
COMPUTE Tap once. Errand Boy builds three ways to run today from your origin, at your distance and terrain, with the errands on your shelf threaded in. Shoes — the row under the dial. Trail reaches for dirt, road keeps to made ground, bare feet want grass. It is the same pair the runner on your profile is wearing, and it changes what gets built. First time — about half a minute a mile; keep the screen on. The needle sweeps while it works. Asked again — the same ask — same start, same dials — comes back at once for a couple of hours. Change anything and it builds fresh. Needs an origin. Grey means it has nowhere to start from yet.

Paste the calendar's secret address. Errand Boy reads it and nothing else — it cannot write, and the address stays on this device. Runna sessions become the week; anything with a place goes to the ERRANDS inbox for you to confirm. Google Calendar → Settings → “Secret address in iCal format.”
